Well to be sure, I'd download the driver, and copy/install it to your 
computer, and then update the driver for your port that the cable is plugged 
into, and browse for that driver you just downloaded.

Hi,
Do you have any recommendations on what cable to buy that will insure that 
it’s not counterfeit. Am I supposed to actually see the words prolific 
somewhere none of my ports use that term thanks
