And he says he lives in a country that doesn't have a radio or computer club.

Don't believe that one either.

25 hours ago, I asked similar – except being an operations type person I asked him to tell us what really happened – “Nothing” is such a rare occurrence that I discount it out of hand.

My message was completely ignored so I decided that it wasn’t worth wasting my time with someone who wanted to repeat that “It didn’t work” and gave us no information about what it did do.

I agree with the comment that this is the most useless thread I think I’ve ever seen …

Please answer these questions in my yesterday's message below one by one so we can help you.

If you're using Mac or Linux skip the questions regarding Device Manager, but you may still get a notification if you unplug and plug back in your USB cable. We need to know the name the notification gives you for the location of the cable.

Most of the problems people have is they are using counterfeit chips in inexpensive pirated USB converters under Windows which use Prolific chip sets, or the cable physically isn't fitting into the radio sufficiently enough and we can advise you what to do to make it fit.

We need more information from you to start helping you.

Tell us these things.

What Operating System and Version are you using?

Example Windows Vista, or Arch Linux, etc.

Go to Device Manager if you're using Windows and see if there are any Warnings especially under connections and com ports. If so, what are the warnings?

Unplug your cable into the computer from your radio. One of the com ports will go away in Device Manager. Now plug it in, you should get a notification, what com port does it say? Do you get a notification?

Make sure the com port that you cable is using is the same one selected in CHIRP.
