Here's how to run Linux apps on Chromebook (if you have the requisite
version of ChromeOS, etc.)

Also found an old (2 years old) Reddit article where someone mentions in
passing running CHIRP using Crouton on a Chromebook (and that it was
working for them). Crouton lets you run Linux apps on ChromeOS. But
its function has been rolled into ChromeOS now (see the link above).
