[chirp_users] Which radio?

I have a 5X3 and fortunate enough to have several 220 repeaters within handheld range.
Very satisfied with the radio, and it is totally supported by CHIRP.

Well, that was a good load of answers. I think that the radio I am looking at

would be the BTECH UV-5X3. I would like to have access to all of those

bands.

The TYT-TH 9800 is an interesting option. Have to take a look at that one. I need

a radio like that for the wife's car so I can have a radio in that one when I drive it.

A big thanks to all of those who provided me info, and any that may come after.

Again, a big hats off to the folks who do the coding and other work on Chirp.

I’m not sure how many other will agree with me, but the TYT-TH 9800 quad band radio seems to work fine for the programming I have done. I know another Ham who has the same radio and he also seems to enjoy this as well.

The radio wasn’t all the expensive either.

Just my 2 cents, good luck.

I've got the BTECH UV-5X3. Triband, about $70.00, programmable with CHIRP. Small, light, easy to use and inexpensive. I haven't had it long, but it seems to work quite well so far. I have always preffered the UV-82 series over he UV-5 series until now, but I figured that for the price I would give this one a try. I was pleasantly surprised by this one.

I see all of the issues with these radio, I want to get something that will do the

job, I want at least 2m and 70cm. But would be even better to have something

tri-band.

So with all of what I have seen, which of these radios do you guys recommend.

Chirp does a great job with my Icom, but I would like to get something that I

can use and if something happens it is not my Icom handheld. Something

that if it falls into the water, or gets whacked I am not out a lot.

So what do you guys recommend?
