[chirp_users] How to Edit columnb information in chirp csv file?

Hi Rodney,

This is not a chirp issue per se; it is a combination of two spreadsheet problems. You should use a spreadsheet program that you know well, or are willing to learn.

First, the locations: If it were me, I would open the csv file using Excel or equivalent, delete all the channel numbers (except for the header), sort the data by location, and then use the "Insert Series" function to renumber the channels from 1 to 58.

Regarding using location as the name: you can copy and paste the location (comments) column data (except for the header) into the name column (except for the header). One potential problem (I have not tried this), is what will chirp do with names that are too long? Will it truncate them? or barf all over them? You have two choices: try it as is and see what happens, or manually edit all the locations (in the name column) to be short enough for your T70A's display.

Once all your edits are complete, save it all as a csv file, and import it all into chirp.

Good luck. Let us know how it goes.

Subject: [chirp_users] How to Edit columnb information in chirp csv file?

Hi:
I am a New user of chirp, I downloaded a repeater file for my area from Repeaterbook.
My Radio is a ICOM t70a, I wish to upload this file to my tranceiver. I have the t70a to display repeaters by Name!
I can sort the Location names alphabetically in the comments column from A to Z which is what I want, but this randomly sorts the memory locations in the Loc column, eg: 25, 42, 52, 7........
I would like to have the repeaters to be in alpabetical order by location, AND have the memory Locations to be in order from 1to 58 as there is 58 repeaters.
I would also like to change entries in the Name column to locations in alphabetical order instead of reapeater callsign as they are now.
How would I do this?

Any help Greatly appreciated!
