Thanks for all the replies.
Jardy, the KG-UV9D sounds good, but as Eddie cited, a good scanner would
serve the purpose and looking at the 9D the scanner can be had for less.
Stan the sd007vu looks interesting but is a little large for my intended
purpose.

Thanks for the input. Looks like I will just find me a cheap little vhf
scanner. They tend to scan a lot faster than your standard HT anyway.
