i have purchased 4 of these now from diferent places/sellers and all with the old version. cant get the new ones anywhere lol....also got a dm-5r now to play with but no chirp on that one yet.

This is because Baofeng is shipping these radios with a firmware
version that for the last 2 or so years has indicated to CHIRP that
the radio is one with only 2 power levels. You will just have to us
the UV-5R selection until a workable solution is found or use the
factory software.
