You are incorrect.  Ham bands are wide band, 25 hz width compared to 12.5 wide narrow band for public safety/business use.  We are not talking audio width, but frequency band width.

 All VHF/UHF amateur
 frequencies SHOULD be narrow band. The repeaters are.
