You are correct to use UV-B5.
Sadly the new Firmware versions of UV-B5/UV-B6 are not supported by Chirp.

There is a patch that remedies this, but as far as I know it has not been added to any official Chirp build.

You can use the official Boafeng SW to download the image, and then rename it to the name used by Chirp, import it to chirp, make the changes, save, rename back and upload via Boafeng SW.

I hope that Chirp will soon add support for those newer UV-B5/B6 Firmware versions.
It seems that the Radio changed its identity marker, and is no longer correctly identified by Chirp.

The one line patch floating around seems to remedy the situation.
(At least the newer UV-B5 is recognized and fully programmable)
