You are correct to use UVB5 if you have a UVB6. They are basically the same radio.

4.0 and 4.1 are Not Daily builds.
The Latest Daily Build can be found at http://trac.chirp.danplanet.com/chirp_daily/LATEST/

The resolution to your error message can be found at http://www.miklor.com/COM/UV_ErrorMess.php#error1

Hi Justin,

First, congratulations on getting your Technician license.

Now for your question. If you take a look at the Supported Radios list
on the CHIRP you will see

BF-F8HP (in daily builds)
Also includes the BF-F9V2+
Also includes the GT-3TP
Also includes the UV-5R TP

So all of these Baofeng radios with 3 power levels are basically the
same and they all are programmed by selecting the BF-F8HP model.

If I joined a list of programmers then I made a mistake and apologize for clogging your air waves! If this list does exist for the layman as well, then I’m in the right spot!

I took a chance and used BF-F8HP on the drop down and was able to connect. I have found much misinformation on the web about this radio being “counterfeit/copy” of the BF-8HP but I was able to find it on the Chinese Baofeng website. Is this thing legit or not? Am I doing any harm telling CHIRP its a BF-8HP when its actually a BF-F9V2+?? Will there be/is there need for a specific version?
