There ain't no sech animal.

The simple FACT is that the "frequency mod" for the UV-5R is, and always has 
been, a total hoax.  Contrary to some pitiful fake videos on Utube, it does 
not work.  You can use Chirp or VIP to set the band limits to anything you 
like -- and the radio will then display any numbers you choose in the 
display window -- but the radio itself can only operate in a range just 
barely wider than the stock frequency limits.
