Hi Don,

There are no fixes needed. CHIRP works fine as-is for all three of these
radios and with both Windows 7 and Windows 8. For the UV-82X, you must be
using a daily release and not the stable release.

Your most likely issue is not having the necessary driver installed. Most
programming cables purchased for the radios that you have are made with a
chip inside that is an unauthorized copy of a Prolific chip. The Windows
Vista/7/8 automatically installed Prolific driver is intentionally written
to not work with these unauthorized chips. You either have to purchase a
cable with a genuine Prolific chip, or purchase one with a chip from a
different vendor (like FTDI) or downgrade to an older Prolific driver that
is compatible (my recommendation).
