Jens,

Attached is my debug.log that contains the version #.
Below is my system log after the cable is plugged in:
tomb at trb-NC10:~$ dmesg | tail
[ 1230.248185] usb 4-1: USB disconnect, device number 3
[ 1230.248873] pl2303 ttyUSB0: pl2303 converter now disconnected from
ttyUSB0
[ 1230.248985] pl2303 4-1:1.0: device disconnected
[ 1233.484145] usb 4-1: new full-speed USB device number 4 using uhci_hcd
[ 1233.643030] usb 4-1: New USB device found, idVendor=067b, idProduct=2303
[ 1233.643051] usb 4-1: New USB device strings: Mfr=1, Product=2,
SerialNumber=0
[ 1233.643065] usb 4-1: Product: USB-Serial Controller
[ 1233.643078] usb 4-1: Manufacturer: Prolific Technology Inc.
[ 1233.646376] pl2303 4-1:1.0: pl2303 converter detected
[ 1233.658373] usb 4-1: pl2303 converter now attached to ttyUSB0
tomb at trb-NC10:~$

I have added my user name to the dialout group.

I don't use the MacBook (OS X) because I've found getting the drivers to
work on my WIndows machine was just too hard. With Linux, it's a dream.
Plus I like to play with different OS's so I have both Xubuntu and Windows
7 VMs running under VirtualBox on my MacBook. For as rarely as I use CHIRP
(2-3 times per year) easy is better. :-)

Thanks for your help.
