Mr. Reinard,
This radios should do the job perfectly. I use them in the city, and the rejection from interference is sometimes a little over loading. Once out of the city they are great. I work in the city of Chicago ( much different from SAR requirements ) and go to the far ends of the county and to the state line and they are fantastic
For the freq's I shall send you a freq database short cut, and use it for info on frequency grants of new licenses etc. Also find a scanner group in your area for additional information, and the agencies that you work with should give the correct "PL" codes for their freqs. If they don't do that, remind them you simply can't help them. Try this short cut,   http://www.midwestgrants.com./

Sorry for off topic
Alan

Subject: [chirp_users] New Chirp User with questions

I handle the radios for a Search and Rescue Group in West Tennessee and like most organizations we are always tight on money so we are running test with Baofeng radios to help out our water and land operations on top of our Motorola gear.  I was told to look into the Chirp software for all of our programming needs.  I have a basic understanding of radio theory and I in my Day Job that pays the bills I am an engineer.  Here is my question.  Here there a basic document covering all the functions of Chirp, I figured out how to do the TX/RX repeater split from the FAQ but I have several goverment agencies that use different PL codes for the TX and RX in addition to some digital encoding.  Some of these settings I would just like to know more about.

Any info you have would be greatly appreciated and so far I enjoy using the software - I would just like to know more about it to leverage it to it's fullest.  I have attatched one of my images so you will have some idea of what I am up to so far :-)

Kenneth E. Reinard
