This is not a simple question to answer. In my experience, some USB
cables that work with Windows do not work well with OS X. The cable
manufacturers put a lot more effort into writing good Windows drivers
than OS X drivers. Cables that have an FTDI USB chip inside tend to
work very well with OS X, but I have had trouble with cables that have
the Prolific PL2303. Other cables with the PL2303 work fine for me,
and I don't know what the difference is between those that work and
those that don't work.

If you find this cable doesn't work with OS X, I'd suggest using a
Windows virtual machine (via VMware Fusion, VirtualBox, Parallels,
etc.) to program the radio. I have a Windows VM I use just for radio
programming, mostly for radios and features not supported by Chirp.
