 I have a VX-8DR (a retail purchased, not a factory updated) and I am able
 to download/upload to the radio. Timing the start is a bit tricky, not
 sure if that's just a normal characteristic though. Sometimes on
 downloading Chirp will say it's an unknown file format but usually if I
 redo the download it will work.

 Most of the fields are correctly handled. Only one I've ran across that
 isn't is the skip flags.
