<body><div>Hey guys,<br></div>
<div> </div>
<div>I recently found myself in possession of a TYT TH-UV3R that had difficulty interacting with CHIRP. I poked around a bit, and it seems that this one has a significantly different memory map from the version that CHIRP works with. The OEM software for the "TH-UV3R25" works great for programming this radio, so I suspect that the difference is that this is the "2.5 kHz" version (possibly the same as "the American version"?). I've submitted a patch that works well for programming the radio I have, and I wouldn't be surprised if this resolves #1227 (<a href="http://chirp.danplanet.com/issues/1227">http://chirp.danplanet.com/issues/1227</a>) and opens up the possibility of tackling #353 (<a href="http://chirp.danplanet.com/issues/353">http://chirp.danplanet.com/issues/353</a>).<br></div>
<div> </div>
<div>Am I on the right track here, adding support for a model distinct from the existing TH-UV3R?<br></div>
<div> </div>
<div>Can anybody else confirm that the distinguishing difference is the 2.5kHz frequency step?<br></div>
<div> </div>
<div>Should we find a way to detect the difference firmware versions from dumps? Anybody else more familiar with this radio have an idea of where to look in the memory map for a firmware version?<br></div>
