[chirp_devel] chirp_devel Digest, Vol 53, Issue 5

HI Gentlemen,
Jim was right. Chirp will program the Baofeng UV-8HX lie to Chirp and say
you are trying to program model BF-F8HP.

However, I had issues with Chirp. I'm using Windows 10. Sometimes the
download from the radio would clone just fine. More often it would not and
an error message appeared. I found it necessary to delete/uninstall the
chirp files, reboot, and then again download the chirp-daily files.

Perhaps, I am not using Chirp correctly. Can you give a clue as to what is
causing this issue or how to avoid it in the future? As I said earlier,
when it did clone it worked just fine.

Thanks for your efforts in developing this excellent program. I will try
next to use it with my Icom IC-7000.

Mike Rand, 4Z1MR / N7NPR

HI,

I purchased a Baofeng model UV-8HX. I do NOT see it listed among the rigs
you support. This is a brand new Baofeng model. When will I be able to use
Chirp to program it?

73,

Mike, 4z1mr/n7npr

Hi Mike,

After a quick google search it appears that the UV-8HX is just another
BF-F8HP variant.

CHIRP will probably support it as soon as you select "BF-F8HP" as the model
in a recent CHIRP daily build. Let us know if it does so it can be added to
the growing list of BF-F8HP variants.

The quickest way to get your answer is plug it in and try it. Report back
what works.

This sounds like a usage question, which means it is offtopic for this list
and should be asked on chirp_users.

Unless the end goal is you writing the code for such a missing driver, it
belongs on the users list :)

Thanks!
