D'oh.  I should have check that more carefully.  Git is smart enough to 
recognize that it is a rename.  As mercurial uses git for its storage 
engine, I presume that it has such smarts too.  If I had thought to use 
'format-patch -C', the patch would have looked smarter.  Mea culpa.
