While it looks like your patch will fix the issue, the patch should
have a header with your name and commit message. If you follow the
process here: http://chirp.danplanet.com/projects/chirp/wiki/DevelopersProcess#Submitting-a-patch
the patch should come out correctly formatted.

That's an unrelated issue. Similar to memories, each bank has a
"valid" bit that isn't being enabled. Looks like Dan was slacking when
he wrote the VX8 driver ;-)
