Ah... now I see what happened.  In Thunderbird, I see that original 
"ft857 pre alpha" email as coming from:

Marco Filippi IZ3GME <iz3gme.marco at gmail.com>


Yet the other patches sent from Macro with the subject of "[PATCH x of 
4] in the subject line shows as being from:

IZ3GME Marco <iz3gme.marco at gmail.com>


I have no idea why Thunderbird thinks these are different email 
addresses but that's why I missed that first patch as I was sorting on 
Sender for that first email address!  Lovely.  Anyway... I'll give this 
a go later today.
