No, nearly every open source project on the planet communicates these 
changes over email in patch format. His patch emails are clean, and they 
work fine. Since you're using thunderbird, you can hit Control-U on each 
mail and save the uuber-raw version, which should apply. Note, don't 
apply his "merge" patch, but all the rest.
